Please assure your respective teams are aware that the HH Red Rule (enforcement) Policy will go into effect today (see attached). This essentially means that with each patient encounter/contact, we must ask for two identifiers (name and date of birth). This also means that if the provider leaves the exam room and comes back, they need to ask patients the information again. BCM lawyers are working with HHS on fine tuning this policy to make it more clinically practical, but in the meantime, please follow and support the policy as outlined.
