We have a new manuscript from Martin Lotz's group for your review. Similar to the paper we shared in May, this is an eQTL study of human synovial tissues (paralleling the last paper that focused on the cartilage and meniscus).
The Lotz lab mined single-nuclei multiome and bulk RNA-seq data generated with RE-JOIN funding. The remaining datasets, as well as the entirety of the analysis, were supported through additional funding streams.

We have a new RE-JOIN banner manuscript for your review, developed by Tristan Maerz' group. This paper describes a mobile adaptation of the Maerz group's murine ACLR joint injury model, which was necessary fir M-Knees' multi-institutional studies. Tristan's group decided to turn the paper into a validation and open-source protocol, to facilitate standardization and adoption of this model within RE-JOIN and the broader OA field.

Happy Friday everyone,

The CCF task force is hard at work at developing an anatomical atlas that we can use to register our datasets to.

What is the CCF task force doing?
The group has so far harmonized the anatomical vocabulary for the knee and TMJ joints, and is developing anatomical maps to accompany this vocabulary.
In parallel, the task force started integrating imaging datasets to develop RE-JOIN's CCF.
We so far only have phase contrast knee data to work with, so Dawen is looking for datasets of knee and/or TMJ samples that were imaged using different platforms (uCT, X-Ray,

Dear RE-JOIN'er

Based on conversations at the annual meeting, RE-JOIN's executive committee, and within (and between) individual working groups, we are establishing a data integration task force that will build out RE-JOIN's data integration workflow and/or pipeline. This task force will establish this workflow / pipeline based on small pilot data integration projects proposed by RE-JOIN's WGs, (eg combining synovial bulk RNAseq datasets from different organisms and teams).

the HEAL Initiative is developing its strategic plan to define research priorities for the next phase of pain research supported by HEAL.

To do this, HEAL leadership has established strategic planning committees, which will provide input to support leadership in formulating these priorities. Among these , we have direct RE-JOIN representation on 2 committees: pain biomarkers and predictors (Dr. Cruz-Almeida), and non-addictive pain therapeutics development (Dr. Malfait).
