We’re very excited to host Dr. Andrew G. Lee for his annual and famous Build-A-Brand workshop. Dr. Lee is the Chair of Ophthalmology at the Houston Methodist Hospital, a distinguished neuro-ophthalmologist, and our faculty mentor.
At this event, Dr. Lee will provide important tips regarding building your brand in medical school for the ophthalmology residency application. This high-yield event is directed to medical students of all years, and dinner will be provided.
Hey OIG! We have an exciting volunteering opportunity coming up! Baylor College of Medicine presents Eye Care Day 2025, a local screening event for Houston's refugee and migrant populations that will offer consultations for routine eye exams, reading glasses, and referrals for further work-up. We are seeking volunteers who can work at the check-in and check-out stations, run the vision screening stations (MS2-4), interpret for patients, guide patients through the vision screening booths, and ensure a comfortable, smooth interaction with our screeners. Dr. Lee and Dr. Kadipasaoglu are recruiting volunteers for the 7T MRI study and have extended the invitation to OIG members. The goal of the study is to compare the high-resolution imaging of the optic nerve provided by the 7T MRI and OCT with the lower resolution imaging of the same structures by ultrasound.
Here is an exciting opportunity to do some ophthalmology volunteering. HOMES Clinic is a student-run free clinic that serves Houston's homeless population. Dr. Ravi Chundru runs HOMES' ophthalmology clinic. See below for more information about how to sign up.
